The Bible says we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. Sin separated us from God and caused us to be lost and destined for eternal punishment. But God, in His mercy and grace, provided His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to take our punishment on the cross at Calvary.
When Jesus gave Himself as the final sacrifice for mankind, all the sin, rebellion, sickness, disease, pain, sorrow, and shame was laid upon Him so that we could be forgiven, cleansed from all sin, healed and made whole (spirit, soul and body).
Jesus’ sacrifice gave us the opportunity for our fellowship with God to be restored and so that we could know Him as our Heavenly Father.
Jesus’ sacrifice paid the penalty so we could be delivered, made whole and saved from eternity in Hell and separation from God’s loving presence.
There was a Divine Exchange that took place.
Here are some proclamations found in THE DIVINE EXCHANGE by Derek Prince, which is a wonderful short booklet you can get for FREE. (Click here for info.)
Study, meditate on and apply the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and be made whole—spirit, soul (mind, will and emotions) and body.
1.) Jesus was punished… that we might be forgiven.
Scripture: Isaiah 53:4-5
“Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
“But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.”
2.) Jesus was wounded… that we might be healed.
Scripture: Isaiah 53:3-5
“He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
“Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
“But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.”
3.) Jesus was made sin with our sinfulness… that we might be made righteous with His righteousness.
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:21
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
4.) Jesus died our death… that we might receive His life.
Scripture: Hebrews 2:9
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”
5.) Jesus was made a curse… that we might enter into the blessing.
Scripture: Galatians 3:13-14
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
“That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
6.) Jesus endured our poverty… that we might share His abundance.
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 8:9
“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”
7.) Jesus bore our shame… that we might share His glory.
Hebrews 12:2
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
8.) Jesus endured our rejection… that we might have His acceptance with the Father.
Scripture: Ephesians 1:5-6
“Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”
9.) Jesus was cut off by death… that we might be joined to God eternally.
Scripture: Isaiah 53:8b
“… for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.”
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:17
“But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.”
10.) Our old man was put to death in Him… that the new man might come to life in us.
Scripture: Colossians 3:9-11
“Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.”
