HEBREWS 6:1-3 (NKJV)
“Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits.”
As you can see, Hebrews 6:3 says that going on to perfection is what we will do “if God permits.” In other words, understanding the foundational doctrines of Christ and being established in them is first.
It’s the same in the natural; a foundation is laid first before the rest of the building is constructed so the building is safe and stable. We need to be established in these 6 doctrines of Christ AND able to teach them to others so there is a solid foundation to build on. This is vitally important to know and understand.
We see in this Scripture (Hebrews 6:1–3) that the foundation to our faith is based on the elementary principles (doctrines) of Christ.
The foundation to our faith is made up of these 6 teachings:
1.) Repentance from dead works
2.) Faith Toward God
3.) Doctrine of Baptisms
4.) Laying on of hands
5.) Resurrection of the dead
6.) Eternal Judgment
If we did a survey and asked 100 Christians what the elementary principles of the doctrine of Christ are, how many Christians do you think would be able to name them and briefly describe what they are. AND how many Christians would be able to TEACH them to others? This is the heartbeat of this website—to help believers be established in these basic principles and be able to teach (disciple) others.
